The Authors Respond
Overuse in Canada: A Complex Problem in a Complex Healthcare System
Karen Born, Wendy Levinson and Tai Huynh
First, we wish to acknowledge the 11 authors who offered their expertise and insights in seven papers in response to ours. These perspectives contribute a rich diversity of opinions and suggestions that can support efforts to meaningfully reduce overuse in healthcare. We thank the authors for their insights, along with this Healthcare Papers issue on overuse for offering a platform to do so. Choosing Wisely Canada marked its fifth anniversary in April 2019. This milestone offers an opportunity to reflect on achievements to date and consider how the campaign can continue to advance its mission as the national voice on overuse. We value the opportunity to engage not only these authors but also the readers of Healthcare Papers in this ongoing conversation. We invite and encourage interested readers to contact us with their thoughts and reflections on the many issues and ideas raised in these pages.
