Thank you for publishing this important work. When improvement in patient safety and quality of care and health service delivery are the key goals, combined with a benefits measurement framework that evaluates the achievement of these goals, we are finally on the right track in EHR / CIS implementations. CPOE is a worthy goal with significant patient safety benefits, however closing the information circle for the entire medication process from ordering (CPOE), processing, packaging, distributing, administering and documenting the medication is the true Holy Grail for Patient Safety and managing adverse events.
